Fourth Grade: Deepening Knowledge, Mastering Habits

Fourth Grade at Elvel School is a turning point. Students no longer learn just to understand—they begin to analyze, debate, and apply. With stronger reading, writing, and math foundations in place, they take on more complex texts, projects, and ideas. Personal responsibility and academic discipline become essential as students transition from guided work to greater independence.

By the end of Fourth Grade, our students are:

  • Reading novels, non-fiction, and historical texts with critical thinking and discussion

  • Writing structured multi-paragraph essays, creative pieces, and research reports

  • Confidently using multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions to solve real-world problems

  • Exploring energy, ecosystems, and scientific processes through inquiry-based science

  • Analyzing government, economics, and geography in social studies

  • Applying bilingual skills fluidly across subjects, both orally and in writing

  • Managing deadlines, participating in group projects, and leading classroom routines

Fourth Grade students are thinkers and doers. They ask thoughtful questions, organize ideas, and begin to take academic risks. With guidance, they start setting goals and evaluating their own progress—traits that prepare them to take on even greater leadership in Fifth Grade and beyond.

Make it stand out.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
